This project has been finished for about a month now, just in time for the C4. Painting was done … as usual … in the last minutes, as were the photographs. Only today for the first time, did I manage to sort through my camera, with images from this year´s Euro Militaire final, Malmö C4 and various ”in progress” shots to get these. Not the sharpest...
T-34-85 in Croatian colour...
I found this old T-34-85 from Tamiya in a box, almost ready but a bit of lacking in the paint aspect. A bit of thinking and a few ideas from my modelling buddies came up with this result.
I redid the swirls a few times as I didn’t like the result. Far from it. After a bit of weathering I was rather happy and didn’t mind showing it any more.

The Fitter.
Some images of the finished model. My methods havent really changed much over the years, so its the usual spraying with Tamiya paints and detail painting with Humbrols.
Weathering is bit more ”old school”, with a light spray of thinned Tamiya buff to give a dusty effect, which has changed. I prefer to use washes and pastels now-a-days to give a more natural dusty effect....

The crew are from Academy also – IDF tank crew set (kit #1380). It’s a simple set, with detail not really matching today´s standards. The heads are from Hornet – Heads with Israeli 1980s tank helmets (HZH/1).

Academy IDF Fitter (kit #1388)
Here´s a little trip down memory lane … Academy´s old M113 IDF Fitter. I built this many years ago, straight from the box except for some cable to imitate the pneumatic hoses for the HIAB crane.
A neat kit with a pretty nice interior, which I’m sure would make the basis for a great detailed build if one had the time and references.

The Final Scene
Although this has been finished for some time, it’s the first time I´ve gotten around to taking some photographs. It’s amazing how something that was an enjoyable build can drag out and feels like a chore to make the final steps.
The Hotchkiss and the four figures were glued to the base and some pastel dust was spread around to both show the remains of a bombed out building and...

Grevens Glue Galore was held for the 13th time on Saturday 02/07/11 in Dansäterskolan, Borensberg. I attended, thanks to IPMS Stockholm and Janne Nilsson who organised the trip. Even though my main area of interest is WW2, I couldn´t help but be overwhelmed, with all that was on show. The Figures – Part II
I don´t use any special primers for figures. I spray a base colour suited to the figure in question; grey for German, desert yellow for these French and the heads, green for Americans etc. Tamiya acrylics are used for this, thinned with T-röd (red tainted ethanol for cleaning bathrooms/ceramics/glass/etc).
The main painting is done with Humbrol enamels and MIGs 502 Abteilung...

The Base – Part III
Painting is pretty straight forward and follows mostly the steps as described in previous threads. The whole base is sprayed black using Tamiya acrylics thinned with T-röd (red coloured ethanol used for washing tiles and bathrooms). Then the yellow wall, red bricks and grey cobblestones are block coloured, again using Tamiya acrylics.
